Would anyone be interested in seeing a screening of this here in MI? If so where would be the best place for it? Refuge, Trumbullplex, metal frat, someone's house? I was thinking of having a band or 2 play before the film showing and do a pot luck and possibly provide pop corn. How does all of this sound to everyone?

I will get moving on this then, I'm glad people are into this idea. If it happens at the T-plex I'll see if we can make it a strict no alcohol night, we'll see how that goes over.

I also had the idea of doing this on a college campus, I think that would work out real well. U of M Ann Arbor or Eastern first came to mind or possibly Wayne State.

Is there anyone here that goes to any of those schools that may have a hook up or know the best place for this on their campus? All that's needed really is a room with chairs, a TV and a dvd player or a projector and a screen.

haha, but for real, it is exclusionary, and if you want the "edge" to be open to people who are not already down, i don't think making rules is a good way to go about it, especially at the t-plex where you know people are going to be hanging out and just drinking, like the people that live there for instance, and we shouldn't just go in there making rules. maybe if it was at someone's house on here, i could maybe understand, but i dunno. i just don't think it's a good idea.

i took what andrew said not as a way to exclude people who drink, but instead encourage them to not drink while they are there. i think that's perfectly fair. people who want to get drunk and watch a movie about the straight edge can do it on their own terms.

I think a no-alcohol night would be fucking ridiculous.If theres no threat of it potentially doing damage to a venue or at somebodys house I'm gonna show up and drink a little bit if I feel like it, no-alcohol policy or not, especially at the T-plex. This would mean you would have to enforce the rule with security, which would be a complete joke, not to mention super un-punk, and I would have to make a zine about it.

This.

Its not like someone is going to be a drunk asshole and try and start fight during a movie. I guarantee there would only be a handful of people drinking too and the nondrinkers would out number the drinkers. Perfect example, metal frat shows that arent the parties, there isnt a huge number of people drinking, just a handful and theres never really been any problems, at least from what I can see.
