May 25th @ the Pyramid Scheme. Brothers (last Grand Rapids show) Damages, Dredd, and Snakes.

Is this Damages last show too? Brothers posted that it was at one point.

Not trying to hate, but it seems like the only locals on any hardcore shows in Grand Rapids these days are Dredd and Snakes, Grand Rapids has a ton of bands...

I wasn't even going to touch that the shows is at the scheme , I just meant more in general pretty much every hardcore show in town in the past few months seems to have had those two bands as the locals

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the pyramid scheme? Seems like a nice venue with a pretty broad range of decent shows. Are they screwy? Also Snakes and Dredd are both diy bands, and we (snakes)are looking forward to this show, but there definitely was no clawing involved. I don't understand why playing there would be a problem for some.

what local bands would you like to see on shows in grand rapids? I'm booking a few shows at the daac this summer and may need some locals.

Aside from Dredd and Snakes I'm not too familiar with the current, newer hardcore related bands coming out of the Grand Rapids area right now. Those are the two I hear the most about, who are the other bands in the GR area right now? I feel like that area goes through bands rather quickly and a GR band could be broken up before I get a chance to listen to or see them.

I'm not trying to imply that Dredd or Snakes are clawing for shows or anything, I think it's more so due to a big disconnect in our scene here which is unfortunate. It just seems like EVERY hardcore show in town has them as the two locals (including the beartrap show set for july 7th) Off the top of my head, active grand rapids hardcore/punk/related bands include:

DSS
Madonna
Chumm
X-tra vomit
Shattered Badge
Tristram
Tower of Silence
Despot
(possibly) attention span
Bunny skulls
Cycles
The Great American Witch Hunt

I think theres a few more I'm missing as well.

Not to mention bands from lansing, mt pleasant, etc that are around.

Snakes has only played 4-5 shows (all at the DAAC) over the past 8 or 9 months. Maybe the problem is that there aren't all that many shows going on? I'm not sure, but I know that I would love to see more shows with those bands listed playing for sure.

Yeah i'm the one booking that beartrap show. I plan on putting more locals on. i didn't really know who to put on it. and the reason dredd and snakes are on that is because beartrap requested that.
