I feel I haven't listened to much this year but two that come to mind that I liked were Cold Cave's "Cherish The Light Years" and Most Precious Blood's "Do Not Resucitate"

Yeah they're re-recording every song they have with legit studio recordings this time. That shit ass bootleg discog on Temperance may as well not even exist. 95% of it is un-listenable. They have the new version of Armed With Anger on their facebook, it sounds amazing.

Well they're putting out the discography properly this time with actual studio recordings of all of their material rather than the crappy live versions on the version that Temperance did in '95. The way I see it is this is actually a discography since the band is doin it themselves and the songs will be heard the way they're meant to be. I don't know what the deal was with that shitty old version but I wouldn't be surprised if the dude at the label threw a bunch of shitty live tracks on there and called it a record. He didn't even put the 7" tracks in the right order. I don't know why he wasted his money on it.

Well if you're already familiar with Human Eye you kind of know what to expect. I don't even know how I could review this record shortly and still have it make sense. They head off more into a 60's psychedelic jam band feel. There is a strong sci fi movie type of thing musically and lyrically. Some parts dip a toe in early 70's avant-guard art rock and proto punk. Other times there are straight forward simple rocking riffs reminiscent of Clone Defects. Punk rock on a quarter of shrooms and left to stew. In They Came From The Sky you hear more attributes of each member of the band without any show boat feeling. They all come together nicely. That does add up to a more prominent rhythm section. There is just a whole hell of a lot happening musically on this album. I still need to digest They Came From The Sky some more but I feel Human Eye has produced a great album yet again.


Hear Me Howling is 3 discs mainly focused on old/traditional blues, folk, country, ballads, jazz and the fourth disc veers off into other American Roots Music genres by contemporary artists fueled by the renaissance of American Folk music that happened in the 60's and 70's. The fourth disc has blues, zydeco, jazz, bluegrass etc.
I am very much a fan of distinctly American music. Particularly pre-war blues, Appalachian folk and ballads, Piedmont blues/country/rag, slave/railroad/prison work songs and field hollers... This kinda stuff isn't for everybody. I just picked this comp./book up today so I am still tearing through it and I am not familiar with some of the artists on it. I'll just post some links to songs and try to cover this whole spread if you want to listen to this kind of stuff.
