Thanks for the kind words Tomas. We've been incredibly lucky in the last year or so. I never could have imagined that we'd be having shows like Shai Hulud when John and I started booking hardcore shows last summer. Needless to say, I'm happy to have been given the chance to do what we've done. I wouldn't be exaggerating in saying that several of the shows at Metal Frat have been some of the best nights of my life.
More importantly, I'm so glad that the Michigan scene has taken to the house like it has. It seems to me (though I might be mistaken), that our scene has developed a real sense of community and excitement in the last couple of years. When Shai Hulud comes through, and their singer (not Steve), says that the show was the best he'd ever been to, let alone played, it makes me really proud for all of us. As Dire Wolf has started to play shows in other areas, and gotten to know some touring bands, I've come to the realization that we easily have some of the best shows in the country. In most states, kids don't give a shit about locals, and won't even drive 20 minutes to see touring bands. We've consistently had a hundred kids show up to the last several shows we've done.
This is a long response, and I'm a bit sappy about the whole thing, but I sincerely want to thank everyone who has made our house what it is.
