Practice spaces

Hi.  Where do bands practice when it's not at one of the members homes?  Are there spaces that folks can recommend from experience?  We're looking for a place in midtown preferably or secondly the northern burbs (ferndale, royal oak, etc) that is suitable for drums, bass, guitar, and a PA.
