Bring your band to the U.P.?

So I've been trying to book more bands from downstate to play Houghton, which is about as far north as you can get in Michigan. Slaves To The Pavement came up for a 3 day U.P. tour in early June. They loved it. This month Dredd is coming to Marquette on the 27th and then (two hours north) Houghton on the 28th.

I'd love to start throwing more shows more often up here. Hoping to start booking a lot more for what's left of the summer and the fall. Email me if you wanna talk shows and stuff, or just drop a line here. Thanks.

Shows up here rule! I can speak for merlot mansion as being a great showspace. Marquette seems to be a pretty hot destination at the moment, don't really know much about houghton, i know keewanaw

Yeah, Marquette is great! Nick works his ass of at Merlot to get bands in the yoop. Lately we've been able to coordinate mini tours by having bands come through Marquette and Houghton, sometimes Escananaba too. Sekoitus was amazing last weekend.

We might be able to do that sometime. Think we planned on Minnesota sometime this year. Going through Wisconsin after Houghton might work.

Yeah, if you can come up with some potential dates I can find out what's open. I've been booking shows at The Orpheum Theatre, In Hancock, which neighbors Houghton. it's a super cool old movie theatre turned venue. What band do you play with?

Before this year, there hadn't been much going on with punk/hardcore/metal or anything like that in Houghton for 4 or 5 years. There's been quite a few bands in the Houghton/Marquette area now that are playing pretty frequently. Shows in Marquette are great. More and more kids are starting to come out in Houghton, too.

Also the swimming up here is great. Way better than anywhere I've swam downstate.

I LOVE traitor! I posted about Lanterns on the Mostly Midwest Facebook page when you guys first put it up a couple weeks ago. I'd love to get you guys up here. Show's would pretty much have to be on a weekend anyway, just to get as many people to come out as possible. Adam talked about a get-together with all us downstate & formerly downstate guys in Houghton this summer, but it doesn't seem likely.

Does the Merlot Mansion have an online presence? Facebook profile, blogspot, tumblr etc? Also aside from individual facebook events is there an online resource for shows in any of the Up cities mentioned above, Marquette, Houghton, Hancock?

I run the Michigan Hardcore Show Calendar along with Dave Franklin and we would love to have updated info on all shows going on in those cities at any given time.

There are facebook pages for merlot mansion, up hardcore and marquette shows.

Can we get links posted here please? Those things are difficult to search for sometimes.

my old band played Houghton a few times in the early 2000s at a skate park and it was some of the best shows ive ever played.

The skatepark shut down a few years ago. Shows used to be insane there. When it shutdown everything really slowed down here. Who did you play with?

iowa band Provoke, the one show was w A shroud cast over and wings of scarlet (both from WI), the other show I cant remember the bands.
