I always hit Record Collector and Hybrid Moments in Ferndale, Flipside in Clawson, and now I'm gonna start at UHF in Royal Oak.

I have this feeling no one pays attention to fliers anymore.

Seems like most people only advertise shows on the Internet, so if no one fliers, no one pays attention. You end up advertising to the same circle of people that grows smaller as they drop out of hardcore, and then end up with less and less people at shows. I'd like to reach anyone who is interested. Might be futile, but it's worth a shot.

I think people pay attention to flyers. I do, at least.
Mt Pleasant is a smaller place, obviously, but I usually hit up
Hall of Heroes (comic shop),
Intricate Decor (tattoo joint),
Justice Records (obviously, plus pass them out with sales),
Island Park skatepark,
Rubbles (local pub with live music),
billboards and poles on CMU campus during the school year.
Other shows and parties.
I even pass out flyers to select people while hitting the bars downtown from time to time, and have gotten a few people into shows this way. Seems strange, but it can work.

We used to post them up downtown, but the city got pissed and threatened to fine us for defacing public property. Small towns I tell ya.

I've had hard time with the "cold flyer handoff" on this Weekend Nachos show in Lansing. GR kids seemed excited.

I love fliers. I collect them too.
Most people that flier around Detroit hand them out at shows or one of the numerous local record shops.

I'm always being handed fliers after shows, I appreciate it.

I never accept flyers that are handed to me, but I also pay attention to them in the wild. Maybe it's generational. I try to make offensive flyers and post them over downtown areas, but I wouldn't suggest it.

Rorik already kind of touched on this, but comic book shops are a good place for fliers. There's a couple in almost every city in the metro area.

I'm pretty sure every Hot Topic has a flier area by the vinyl. Cool

In all seriousness though, if you're trying to find kids who would be into punk/hardcore but they just don't know where to find it, Hot Topic is a good place. They're probably lost and confused in the myspace metal scene. Just ask Kyle Callert.

I'd say any college campus: Wayne State, Eastern, U of M, Michigan State, Oakland U.

Up until the last few shows I've done I've always made it a point to make flyers and try to get them out as much as possible even if it feels like it's a waste of time and money with the internet. I do feel that more people will see the flyer online but it's a matter of work ethic, principle and nostalgia for me and I still think there is value in the making of and pasting up of flyers. I love taking them around town and putting them up. I just wish there was more time for that these days. As far as handing them out at shows I still think it should be attempted and there will always be some people that will take them but the majority do not these days and that gets discouraging. I miss the days when there'd be tons of flyers to get after every show. Sometimes being handed things is annoying and I've declined to take my fair share too but the average kid seems to want nothing to do with flyers these days. I remember that Run With the Hunted show I did at Refuge, that was later moved to a basement, in Oct. '09. I had Steve pass out the rest of the fliers at the Strike Anywhere, Crime In Stereo, Polar Bear Club, Ruiner show at Smalls earlier that month and he told me that kids straight up wouldn't take them.

I agree with this Brad. We don't have a Hot Topic here (THANK DIETY), but it would be nice to be able to get more younger/high school aged kids coming out to shows up here. I don't know how to reach them and save them from the abyss that is crab/crunkcore.

I can confirm what Brad said, because I went ahead and asked Kyle Callert.

That being said, if we do post fliers up at Hot Topic all the time will it end up drawing kids to shows who have short stints of being naked all the time?
