Yea...I remember when YOUNG @ HEART came out...it played at like the Maple Art or Main Art theater...I missed it though...will hopefully check it out sometime soon.
Here are some music docs I like off the top of my head:
N.Y.H.C. DOCUMENTARY
Probably the best documentary on HxC EVER.
I met the director Frank Pavich when I lived in FL. We talked for about an hour. He was really cool and nice. He was just like a normal dude...I don't even know if he was actually into HxC...I think he just found it to be an intresting form/style of musical expression.
AMERICAN HARDCORE
Based on the book written by Stephen Blush...though alot of people disliked certain "facts" about the book, I still found the book and documentary interesting. Anyone intrested in HxC should check both these out. Havn't seen it since i saw it opening day at the Birmingham 8, which was the only theater that was playing it in the area. The funny thing is, after the movie and the lights went up, I knew like 15 other people in the audience...it was like being at a show.
HYPE!
All about the early 90's GRUNGE "movement". I havn't seen it in awhile, but I recall it being fun, entertaining, and interesting, and there is also some great music up in there!
BOB DYLAN - NO DIRECTION HOME
One of the most touching, moving, and poetic music documentaries I've ever seen. It's over 4 hours and just covers the early part of Dylan's career before his motorcycle accident. Great movie to watch on a rainy afternoon. It's directed by some guy named MARTIN SCORSESE...I've never heard of him, but i think I'm check out some of his other movies.
