Been looking for a comprehensive list of music stores in MI. Add a website or an address / contact or something.

The local ones that:
1) carry some boutique stuff Guitar Center wouldn't / doesn't carry
2) might do repairs / customization
3) hopefully will not be full of know nothing morons trying to sell the latest Line6
4) sell / buy good quality used gear at affordable prices

I know a few in a 20mi radius or so from me.

Anderson Music (I personally hate this place but in the interest of fairness...)

Also specifically looking for a Tech21 VTbass signature series pedal. Anyone know where I might be able to find one in a store to try out? 90% sure I'm buying one, but I'd like to get my hands on one before.

Motor City Guitars worked! Thank you so much man. I am now the proud owner of a VTbass.

Chris, the guitar tech, is really awesome at modding and building amps and pedals. Jordan and Mitchell are both great at fixing guitars and other instruments at a good price as well.

I can vouch for Joe's in East Pointe. I put an Angus Young pickup in my SG and they had it for less than Guitar Center and Musician's Friend (!!) and they installed it for free (!!!) (plus a modest charge for some custom wiring I wanted). A#1 quality work, and it was done when they said it would be.

We hit up a few stores in the Royal Oak/Ferndale area last week and it was a pretty dismal scene. High prices and low stock.

Mike Carey music in probably 5 minutes from my house, it's a good place to go if you want a NASCAR or Orange County Choppers guitar, but that's about it.

Motor City Guitars is backed. The guitar player from Bars of Gold works there. When I lived closer to there I would go there a lot and they sent me a hand written happy holidays card.
